Irchel Campus temporary school facilities

Several of Zurich's cantonal schools will require refurbishment in the years to come. Temporary school facilities are taking shape on the Irchel university campus, to be occupied by each school in turn. Two laboratory buildings and a courtyard building built in 1978 – all listed – are being converted for the project. The change in use requires extensive renovation works. Bright, natural surfaces feature in the streamlined classrooms. The courtyard building, repurposed as a canteen and media library, and central access areas have a more playful feel. Geometric shapes and lots of colour break up the long corridors. An area for break times that expands into an informal green space will be created between the buildings.
